1922 -- AGS Archives    On November 27, 1922, Howard Carter entered the antechamber to the tomb of Tutankhamun. Carter was "astonished by the beauty and refinement of the art displayed by the objects surpassing all we could have imagined..." He also recorded in his notes, "It soon became obvious that we were but on the threshold of the discovery..."
