| Travel Program | The AGS Travel Program Since
1984 the American Geographical Society has sponsored over 250 educational
trips for the general public. The AGS Travel Program is distinguished
by the fact that the lecturers are professional geographers. They are
Fellows of the Society and authorities on the regions traveled, having
done field work and traveled there themselves. They bring a geographer's
unifying interpretation to the description of landscape, history, customs,
cuisine, art, architecture, politics, music, religion, literature, resources,
economy, and all the other riches of the places visited on each trip.
AGS provides the passengers with reading lists, books, articles, maps,
and other informational materials about the itineraries and about the
discipline of geography. Passengers also receive complimentary subscriptions
to FOCUS on Geography magazine, the Geographical Review, and Ubique,
as well as membership in the American Geographical Society. THE 2008-2009 SEASONClick on the link for the 2008 Season Itineraries.Click on the link for the 2009 Season Itineraries.
